About Shotokan Karate of America
Shotokan Karate of America (SKA) is a nonprofit organization that has been teaching traditional karate-do in the United States since 1955. Instructors freely donate their time and efforts to the organization and to their students.
SKA was founded and is led by Tsutomu Ohshima. Mr. Ohshima is also recognized as the chief instructor of many other SKA-affiliated national Shotokan karate organizations worldwide. SKA maintains its national headquarters in Los Angeles.
Membership in SKA affords members the opportunity to participate in the many SKA sponsored events worldwide including Special Trainings, international events, practices with Shihan Tsutomu Ohshima and other senior instructors. Membership benefits also include kyu tests (tests for rank), subscription to the quarterly newsletter, and the opportunity to practice at any SKA dojo worldwide.
